  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 to 4 c. flour, sifted (self-rising)

    Dissolve yeast in warm water. Cream Crisco and sugar together. Add flour and yeast to mixture, alternating each to sugar and Crisco. Cover and let rise 1 hour. Knead for 3 minutes. Roll 1/2-inch thick. Cut out like biscuits. Fold over. Put small piece of butter in each one. Let rise 2 hours. Bake 15 or 20 minutes at 400°.
