- 10 1/2 ounces flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 4 1/2 ounces unsalted butter, diced
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest, grated
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups whole milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl; add cardamom and stir.

3Add butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs; add grated lemon zest and sugar and mix thoroughly.

4In another bowl, whisk together milk and egg; add to flour mixture and form a dough.

5Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic; divide dough into two pieces.

6Roll each, with your hands, into a sausage like shape, about 1 inch in diameter.

7Slice each sausage into about 30 pieces; transfer to a greased baking sheet.

8Bake until cookies are dried and golden brown, about 10 to 15 minutes; cool on a wire rack.
