  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 lb butter, soft (no substitutes)

Directions

    Blend flour and sugar together completely.

    Cut in softened butter until mixture resembles small peas.

    Knead until smooth.

    Pat mixture into an ungreased glass pan.

    Cut into small serving pieces and prick with fork.

    Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

    Immediately upon removing from oven, cut through the original lines for serving pieces.

    Cool on wire rack before removing fmor pan.
