  • washed pickles
  • 2 Tbsp. pickling salt
  • 2 Tbsp. alum
  • 1/2 box pickling spices
  • 4 c. vinegar
  • 4 c. sugar

Directions

    Fill a gallon jar with washed pickles.

    Add pickling salt, alum, pickling spices and vinegar.

    Fill remainder of jar with water.
  4. 4
    Place lid on jar and let set for a month.

    Drain and wash pickles.

    Rinse in clear water.
  7. 7
    Cut in thin slices.
  8. 8
    Place in jar and add sugar; shake jar until pickles are covered with juice. Process, if desired.

    Or can be kept in refrigerator.
