Ingredients
- 30 to 40 medium cucumbers
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. salt
- 3 Tbsp. pickling spice
- 1 qt. vinegar
- 1 qt. water
- 1 head dill
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 piece hot red pepper
- 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
Directions

1Wash and cut cucumbers in half lengthwise; pack in hot jars with the last 5 ingredients put in each pint jar.

2Combine sugar, salt, vinegar and water.

3Tie pickling spices in a cheesecloth bag; add to vinegar mixture.

4Simmer 15 minutes.

5Heat to boiling and pour over cucumbers; leave 1/4-inch headspace.

6Adjust caps. Process pints and quarts 15 minutes in boiling water bath.

7Yield: about 7 pints.
