Ingredients

  • 25 to 30 medium sized cucumbers (long and slim)
  • 8 large white onions
  • 2 large sweet peppers
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 5 c. cider vinegar
  • 5 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves (whole)

    Wash cucumbers and slice paper thin (use a slice).

    Chop onions and peppers.

    Combine with cucumbers and salt.

    Let stand 3 hours and drain.

    Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in a large kettle.

    Bring to a boil.

    Add drained cucumbers.

    Heat thoroughly but do not boil.

    Pack while hot into sterilized jars and seal at once.
