- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
- c. enriched self-rising flour*
- c. sliced almonds (optional)
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

2Stir in vanilla.

3Gradually add flour; mix well.

4Pat or spread dough evenly over bottom of ungreased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch pan.

5Bake in preheated 350° oven for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool.

6Spread crust with Cream Cheese Topping.

7If desired, sprinkle top with almonds.

8Continue to bake in preheated 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes.

9Cool completely before cutting into diamonds.

10Makes about 4 dozen.
