Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
  • c. enriched self-rising flour*
  • c. sliced almonds (optional)

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

    Stir in vanilla.

    Gradually add flour; mix well.

    Pat or spread dough evenly over bottom of ungreased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch pan.

    Bake in preheated 350° oven for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool.

    Spread crust with Cream Cheese Topping.

    If desired, sprinkle top with almonds.

    Continue to bake in preheated 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes.

    Cool completely before cutting into diamonds.
