- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
- 3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 c. water
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 8 oz. cooked lasagna noodles
- 1 lb. cottage cheese
- 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
Directions

1Saute onion, garlic and beef until brown.

2Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, salt, basil, sugar, pepper and bay leaf and simmer uncovered about 1 1/2 hours.

3Remove bay leaf.

4Spread 1/2 cup meat sauce in 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan, starting with noodles. Make 3 layers, each of noodles, cottage cheese, Mozzarella cheese, meat sauce and Parmesan.

5Bake at 325° for 45 minutes.
