- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 c. cottage cheese or Ricotta cheese
- 1/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 c. celery, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 (No. 303) cans tomatoes
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. lasagna
- 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, grated
Directions

1Saute celery, onion and garlic in shortening.

2Add beef and brown until crumbly, but not hard.

3Pour off drippings.

4Add tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, cayenne pepper, oregano and bay leaf. Cover and cook slowly 20 minutes.

5Remove bay leaf.
