  • 12 oz. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 (8 oz.) can Spanish-style tomato sauce
  • 3/4 c. hot water
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 3/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 lb. cottage cheese
  • 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese

Directions

    Crumble ground beef into large skillet.

    Cook over medium heat until lightly browned, stirring occasionally.

    Drain.

    Add garlic and onion.

    Saute until onion is tender; drain.

    Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, undrained mushrooms, parsley flakes, basil, oregano, red pepper and salt.

    Simmer for 5 minutes.

    Cook noodles using package directions; drain.

    Mix egg with cottage cheese in bowl.

    Spread 1/4 of the meat sauce in 7 x 12-inch baking dish.
