  • 3 c. self-rising flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. milk (Carnation)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp. Crisco (overflowing)

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs, beating one in at a time. Add milk and vanilla mixed together.

    Mix in sifted flour and mix well.

    Pour into four greased and floured cake pans and bake in moderate 350° oven until done.

    (For thinner layers put less mixture in the pans.

    I get 6 to 7 thin layers from this batter.) Frost with your favorite frosting.
