Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. Crisco or butter
- 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. cream or evaporated milk
- 3/4 c. butter
- 2 c. shredded coconut
Directions

1Beat eggs until stiff.

2Gradually add sugar and vanilla.

3Sift together and add to egg mixture the flour, baking powder and salt. Heat milk and Crisco or butter to boiling point.

4Add at once to egg mixture and blend thoroughly.

5(Do not add more flour.)

6Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

7Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.

8While cake is hot, add syrup of brown sugar, cream and butter to top of cake.

9Sprinkle coconut on top of syrup.

10Place cake under broiler until coconut is golden (only takes a few seconds).
