- 1 c. flour
- 1/4 c. confectioners sugar
- 1 stick cold sweet butter
- grated lemon
- 1 c. confectioners sugar
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- juice 1 lemon
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
- 1/4 tsp. each ground cinnamon and nutmeg
- toasted almond slices
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 350°.

2Butter and flour an 8 x 8-inch baking pan.

3In large bowl, combine flour, sugar and butter to form a dough.

4Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

5Bake for 25 minutes.

6Allow this to cool; prepare remaining ingredients in large bowl.

7Whisk together remaining ingredients until well blended.

8Pour the mixture over cooled shell and bake 25 minutes. Allow to cool, then sprinkle with confectioners sugar and almonds. Cut into bars and serve.
