Ingredients
- 2 eggs, beaten well
- 1 c. sugar
- 6 Tbsp. shortening, margarine or oil
- rind of large lemon
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder (rounded)
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Directions

1First combine dry ingredients.

2Beat well the eggs, sugar and shortening.

3Add rind of large lemon.

4Add dry ingredients to egg mixture.

5Bake.

6While bread is still warm, but not hot, pour the juice of 1 large lemon mixed with 1/2 cup sugar over bread.

7Loosen sides so juice goes in and down.

8Makes a nice glaze.

9Cool before removing.

10Bake day before using.

11Can be frozen.

12Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.
