- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. milk
- 1 oz. baking ammonia
- 1 tsp. lemon oil
- approximately 9 c. flour
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy.

2Add flavoring and eggs and continue to beat.

3Dissolve ammonia in milk.

4Sift salt and flour together and add alternately with milk.

5Add only enough flour to make a medium soft dough.

6Chill in refrigerator for a few hours or overnight.

7Roll 1/2 inch thick.

8Cut into desired shapes.

9Place one inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375° until golden brown.

10Makes 6 to 8 dozen.
