  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • dash of salt
  • dash of ground nutmeg
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. lemon juice

Directions

    Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt and nutmeg in a saucepan. Gradually stir in water.

    Cook over moderately low heat (225°), stirring constantly, until thickened and clear.

    Remove from heat. Add butter and lemon juice.

    Stir until butter is melted.

    Keep warm until serving time.
