Lemon Tea Bread

- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Directions

1Cream butter.

2Add sugar and grated lemon rind.

3Add eggs. Sift flour and baking powder.

4Add alternately with the milk.

5Add nuts.

6Bake in greased loaf in a 375° oven for about 35 minutes (use toothpick test for doneness).

7As soon as bread is removed from the oven, pour over the top of a mixture of 1/4 cup sugar and the juice and grated rind of 1 large lemon.

8Let bread cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
