- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. flour
- 2 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. powdered alum
- 15 drops oil of cloves
Directions

1Mix ingredients, except oil of cloves, together in a pan and cook over low flame, stirring constantly, until thick.

2Remove from fire and add oil of cloves.

3This prevents spoilage and gives the paste a nice odor.

4Pour into jars.

5The recipe makes one pint.

6If made as directed, the paste will keep several months.
