- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 12 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons anise seed
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions

1In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars.

3Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well.

4Divide dough into 10 portions; shape each into a 12 inch log.

5Place 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

6Flatten with a fork to 1/4 inch thickness.

7Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

8Cool for 5 minutes; cut diagonally into 1 inch slices.

9Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
