- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 c. sour milk
- 1 tsp. soda
- pinch of salt (if desired)
Directions

1Mix well with pastry blender the flour, sugar, shortening, cinnamon and ginger.

2Save out 1/2 cup for topping.

3Add to flour mixture the egg, molasses, sour milk, soda and salt.

4Mix together.

5Pour into greased 9 x 9-inch pan.

6Sprinkle with topping.

7Bake for 35 to 45 minutes at 350°.
