  • 7 to 8 lb. cucumbers
  • 2 c. hydrated lime
  • 2 gal. water
  • 2 qt. white vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 8 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 1 tsp. pickling spice
  • 1 tsp. mustard seed

    with lime water. Soak 24

    with wooden spoon. Rinse well and cover with fresh water for 3 hours.

    Drain and cover with solution of next 7 ingredients, then let stand overnight. In a.m., place over heat and boil gently for 30 or 40 minutes, then can.
