Ingredients
- 7 lb. cucumbers, sliced 1/4-inch thick
- 1 c. hydrated lime
- 1 gal. water
- 4 1/2 lb. (9 c.) sugar
- 3 pt. cider vinegar
- 1 pt. water
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. pickling spice
- 1 tsp. whole cloves
Directions

1In crock, combine cucumbers, lime and 1 gallon water.

2Let soak for 24 hours.

3Rinse well and cover with cold water.

4Let stand 3 hours; drain.

5Heat remaining ingredients and pour over cucumbers.

6Let stand overnight.

7The next day, boil cucumbers with brine for 35 minutes or until transparent.

8Pack into hot jars.

9Green food coloring may be added, if desired.

10Process 15 minutes in hot water bath to assure that jars seal.

11Makes 10 to 12 pints.
