- 7 lb. cucumbers (medium)
- 2 gal. water
- 1 c. lime
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 5 lb. sugar
- 3 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 Tbsp. mixed pickling spices
Directions

1Don't peel cucumbers.

2Slice 1/4-inch thick.

3Soak 24 hours in 2 gallons of water and lime.

4Wash thoroughly and let stand 3 hours in cold water.

5Drain and let stand overnight in mixture of remaining ingredients.

6I heat it to boiling before adding to cuke slices, which I have in a plastic pail, if a large amount. In the morning, boil 35 minutes and seal.

7I add some alum if pickles are too soft, while cooking.

8Makes 5 quarts.
