Ingredients: 1/3 c. shortening; 2 c. sugar; 2 eggs; 1 1/2 c. applesauce; 4 c. flour; 1/4 tsp. cloves; 1 tsp. cinnamon; 1 tsp. baking soda; 1/2 tsp. salt; 1 c. pecans or walnuts; 1 lb. raisins; 1 lb. sliced gumdrops (remove the black ones); 1 tsp. vanilla

2 c. sugar

1 1/2 c. applesauce

1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. pecans or walnuts
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. sliced gumdrops (remove the black ones)
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Cream together the shortening, sugar, eggs and applesauce. Set aside. Sift together flour, cloves, cinnamon, soda and salt. Mix dry ingredients and creamed ingredients.

Add nuts, raisins and gumdrops.

Add vanilla. Bake in greased and floured 2 loaf pans or angel food cake pan for 1 hour in a 325° oven.
