  • 2 lg. eggs, separated
  • 1-1/4 cup half and half
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 tbsp. butter, melted *
  • 1/2 cup Macadamia nuts, chopped plus
  • Macadamia nuts, for garnish
  • Powdered sugar, for garnish
  • Maple syrup
  • Fresh strawberries
  • mangoes

Directions

    Beat egg yolks until light.

    Add milk and almond extract.

    Continue beating.

    Sift the dry ingredients together and add to the egg yolk mixture.

    Add melted butter and continue to beat.

    Lastly, very gently fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

    Bake in well heated waffle iron.

    Garnish with additional Macadamia nuts and powdered sugar.

    Serve with pure maple syrup or fresh fruit, such as sliced and sugared strawberries or mangoes.
