Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 1 tsp. brandy flavoring
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    Cream together butter and Crisco.

    Gradually add sugar.

    Beat until fluffy, about two minutes.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Mix next four ingredients.

    Mix flour and baking powder.

    Add 1/4 of flour mixture to butter, sugar and egg mixture.

    Add 1/3 cup of milk.

    Keep adding flour and milk alternately, ending with flour. Bake at 300° for about 1 hour and 20 minutes or until no longer doughy in the middle.

    Use a tube mold.
