Ingredients
- 2 doz. cunners, cleaned and meat stripped from spines, or 1 lb. haddock or codfish
- 4 large raw potatoes
- 1 qt. water
- 3 slices salt pork
- 3 diced onions
- pinch of white sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3/4 c. cream
- 1 tsp. curry powder
Directions

1Skin and bone fish; cut meat into small pieces about 1-inch long.

2Slice the potatoes; boil in 1 quart water.

3Mash potatoes, then return them to the water in which they were boiled.

4Chop the salt pork; saute in frying pan.

5When fairly crisp, add the diced onions.

6When onions are soft, add fish.

7Fry slowly until fish begins to flake.

8Add mashed potatoes with the water, sugar, salt and pepper, cream and curry powder.

9Just before serving, sprinkle the chowder liberally with crushed oyster cracker crumbs.
