Make Ahead Creamy Mashed Potatoes

  • 5 lb. potatoes
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • paprika

Directions

    Cook potatoes with 1 teaspoon salt until tender.

    (Peel if desired.)

    Drain well.

    Mash potatoes with masher until smooth. Add cream cheese, 4 tablespoons butter, garlic salt, pepper and remaining 1 teaspoon salt.

    Mix until smooth.

    Gradually add heavy cream, mixing until smooth.

    Turn potato mixture into 13 x 9-inch pan.

    (Bake at once or refrigerate overnight.)

    Dot top of potatoes with 2 tablespoons butter and paprika.

    Bake in 325° oven for 30 minutes; increase to 375° and bake 30 minutes more.
