Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. flour
  • water
  • few drops of peppermint or wintergreen extract
  • 2 c. salt
  • 2/3 c. water
  • 1 c. cornstarch
  • 1/2 c. cold water
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. liquid starch
  • few drops of tempra paint
  • you might use sand or bird gravel
  • 1 part white liquid glue
  • 1 part tempera paint

Directions

    Place a flat topped piece of coal in a quart size fish bowl. Put 1/4 c. table salt on the top of the coal.
  2. 2
    Slowly put 1/4 c. water on the salt, being careful not to wash salt off the coal. Add 3 drops each of red, yellow, blue, and green food coloring on top of wet salt.

    When the salt begins to grow the colors blend together, making a colorful water garden.

    Add 1 Tbsp. water each day.

    Carefully avoid washing away the salt formations.
