- 1 pound plain flour
- 6 ounces malt extract
- 4 ounces brown sugar
- 2 ounces margarine
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces sultanas or currants
- 1/2 pint soya milk or water
Directions

1Gently heat the margarine, malt and sugar.

2Cool.

3Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl and stir in the malt mixture and the soya milk.

4Add the dried fruit.

5Turn into a greased, floured 2 Lb loaf tin and bake at 325F, gas 3 for an hour and a half.
