  • 1/2 c. sliced almonds
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 head iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 head Romaine lettuce
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 2 green onions
  • 11 oz. can mandarin oranges, drained

Directions

    Combine almonds and 3 tablespoons sugar in saucepan.

    Cook over medium heat until almonds are coated and sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly.

    Cool and store in an airtight container, if desired.

    Combine sugar, parsley, oil, vinegar and Tabasco sauce in bowl.

    Mix well.

    Chill several hours.

    Combine lettuce, celery, onions and mandarin oranges in bowl.

    Add chilled dressing.

    Toss.

    Sprinkle with almonds.
