Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. bread crumbs or crackers
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 c. tomato juice
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • dash of salt

Directions

    Saute onion in butter for 5 minutes.

    Add to ground beef in large bowl.

    Sprinkle in salt and pepper; mix well.

    Stir in crumbs, eggs and juice.

    Shape into a loaf.

    Place in a greased pan.

    Bake at 300° for 60 to 90 minutes or until browned.

    Remove loaf and place on platter.

    Serve with brown gravy.
