- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. bread crumbs or crackers
- 1 egg
- 2/3 c. tomato juice
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- dash of salt
Directions

1Saute onion in butter for 5 minutes.

2Add to ground beef in large bowl.

3Sprinkle in salt and pepper; mix well.

4Stir in crumbs, eggs and juice.

5Shape into a loaf.

6Place in a greased pan.

7Bake at 300° for 60 to 90 minutes or until browned.

8Remove loaf and place on platter.

9Serve with brown gravy.
