  • 13 cup chopped celery
  • 14 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons green peppers
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 2 cups flour (or more)
  • 12 cup shortening
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 34 cup milk
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons green peppers
  • 18 teaspoon black pepper
  • 14 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 18 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 2 tablespoons butter

    Saute celery, onion, green pepper, ground beef until beef is browned.

    Season with salt and pepper.

    Sprinkle in 2 T flour.

    Stir for about 1 minute.

    Add water and worcestershire sauce and boil until slightly thickened.

    Remove from heat and cool.

    Cut in shortening.

    Add more flour if needed to make a firm dough.
