Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lb. hamburger
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (24 oz.) can whole tomatoes
  • 1 (24 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 (24 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small pkg. fresh mushrooms
  • 1 or 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika

Directions

    Saute onion until tender in 1 tablespoon butter.

    In large bowl mix hamburger, bread crumbs and egg.

    Add dash of salt, paprika and 1/2 of garlic clove.

    Mix all together and form balls; brown lightly in skillet.

    In a large saucepan, place whole tomatoes, paste and sauce.

    Add chopped pepper, mushrooms, remaining garlic and celery.

    When meatballs are browned, add them to this sauce. Simmer 1 1/2 hours.
