- 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1Preheat oven to 200 degrees.

2Line cookie sheets with waxed paper or aluminum foil, wetting corners of cookie sheets to hold linings in place.

3Beat egg whites with mixer on medium speed until frothy.

4Add cream of tartar and beat until soft peaks are formed when beaters are lifted.

5On high speed, gradually add sugar 1 tablespoon at a time.

6Beat until stiff, very white, and glossy.

7Beat in vanilla.

8Pipe or drop small mounds(I fill a Ziploc bag and cut off a corner to pipe) onto prepared cookie

9sheets 1 inch apart.

10Sprinkle with decors.

11Bake 3 to 3 1/4 hours until meringues are dry and crisp all the way through.

12Cool on sheet on wire rack.

13Peel off liner.

14Store airtight at room temperature.
