  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. Crisco oil
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. mild Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 c. creamed corn
  • 1 pinch red pepper
