- 1 c. cornmeal, coarsely ground
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 small can mild green chilies, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 c. Wesson oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 small can cream-style corn
- 1 c. grated sharp cheese
Directions

1Mix all ingredients except cheese and pour half of mixture into slightly greased hot iron skillet.

2Add cheese, then remaining batter.

3Bake at 425° for 25 minutes.

4May serve as spoon bread. The green chilies are the green Mexican type, not the hot ones.
