- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 c. nuts
Directions

1Stir both of the sugars, milk and margarine together in a large pan.

2Cook over a medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture forms a soft ball when a little bit of it is dropped into a glass of cold water.

3(It is too soft if the mixture covers the bottom of the glass; it should hold together loosely.)

4Add the vanilla and salt; cook about 1 minute longer.

5Remove from heat and add nuts.

6Beat with a spoon until candy starts to get very thick (a wooden spoon is best).

7Drop by large spoonfuls onto wax paper. Let cool.
