- 1 c. brown rice
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 1/2 c. chicken broth, heated
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 sprigs thyme
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1In heavy, microwavable casserole dish, brown rice in butter until grains are coated with butter and begin to sizzle.

2Add broth, bay leaf and thyme (or allspice); season to taste with salt and pepper.

3Bring to boil on High; simmer until tender (10 to 12 minutes).

4Stir; cover and let stand.

5Serve hot.
