Ingredients

  • 7 lb. beef
  • 1/2 bushel apples
  • 2 cans cherries (not pie filling or candied)
  • 2 lb. raisins
  • 2 lb. currants
  • 2 qt. apple cider, boiled
  • 2 c. cider vinegar
  • 2 lb. brown sugar
  • 2 lb. white sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp. allspice
  • stock from meat
  • 1 c. suet or 1 lb. margarine

    Boil and grind the beef.

    Peel, core and grind apples. Combine all ingredients; mix well.

    Bring to a boil; simmer for 1 hour.

    Ladle into hot, clean jars.

    Seal.

    Process 1/2 hour in boiling water bath.

    Let stand 6 to 8 weeks before using.
