Ingredients
- 3/4 to 1 lb. ham, cubed
- small onion, diced
- 2 Tbsp. minced parsley
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 c. shredded cabbage
- 1/2 c. diced celery
- salt and pepper to taste
- 9 c. water
- 1 c. diced potatoes
- 1/2 c. diced carrots
- 1 Tbsp. oil
- 1 c. dried lima beans, soaked overnight
- 8 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 c. fresh or canned tomatoes
- 1/2 c. macaroni
Directions

1Saute celery, garlic powder and onion lightly in oil.

2Add everything but the macaroni and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

3Add the macaroni and simmer 30 more minutes.

4If you don't get a chance to soak the lima beans overnight, put them in a small pot with 3 cups of water (subtract from the 9 cups that you need).

5Bring to boil; cover and remove from heat.

6Let sit for an hour, then pour beans and water into other soup ingredients before starting to cook.
