  • 12 slices day old bread
  • 1/4 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. white raisins
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 6 c. scalded milk
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Toast bread and spread with all the butter/margarine while hot.

    Arrange toast in buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with raisins. Stir salt and all but 4 tablespoons of sugar into the eggs.

    Add milk and stir to mix well.

    Pour over toast and let stand 10 minutes.

    Press toast lightly down into milk occasionally.

    Mix cinnamon and remaining sugar; sprinkle over the top.

    Place pan directly on oven rack in a 350° oven about 25 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean and top is golden brown.
