- 4 c. water
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 c. loosely packed fresh mint
- 4 c. bourbon
- crushed ice
- fresh mint sprigs
Directions

1Combine water and sugar in medium saucepan; bring to boil. Reduce heat.

2Cook 10 minutes.

3Reduce heat to low; add chopped mint.

4Simmer 30 minutes.

5Let syrup stand overnight; strain. Fill julep cup (12 ounces) with crushed ice.

6Combine bourbon and mint syrup.

7Pour over ice.
-
8Garnish with fresh mint.

9Serve with straw.
