* Mock Lasagna Casserole *

  • 1 lb. bulk pork sausage
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato juice
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt and pepper
  • dried basil, crushed
  • 1 (7 oz.) pkg. macaroni, cooked and drained
  • 1 1/2 c. cream-style cottage cheese
  • 6 oz. American cheese, shredded

Directions

    Brown meat; drain off fat.

    Add tomato sauce, garlic salt, pepper, basil and 1/2 cup water.

    Cover and simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    In a 2-quart casserole, layer half each of macaroni, cottage cheese, shredded cheese and meat sauce.

    Repeat layers.

    Bake at 370° for 30 minutes.
