- 2 c. dates
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 3 c. boiling water
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 c. walnuts
Directions

1Place dates and baking soda in a large bowl.

2Pour boiling water over.

3Let stand until cool.

4Sift flour with salt and baking powder; set aside.

5Cream the eggs, brown sugar and vanilla.

6Add alternately, with flour, to date mixture.

7Add nuts. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

8Makes 2 loaves.
