Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 4 Tablespoons Molasses
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cloves

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar, add egg and molasses. Beat after each addition.

    Mix together dry ingredients and add to butter mixture. Combine well. (It is easier to work with the dough if you can refrigerate it for 30 minutes or more.)

    Form dough into small balls. Place on baking sheet, press top of each cookie with a fork and sprinkle with a bit of sugar. Bake at 350F for about 12 minutes.
