  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. boiling water

Directions

    Mix sugar and spices; add oil, molasses plus well beaten egg. Stir in sifted flour, salt and soda.

    Add boiling water.

    Bake in oven at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Serve with whipped cream topping with shaved crystallized ginger.
