  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. melted lard
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. each: cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon
  • 1 c. Swans Down cake flour
  • 1 dessert spoon soda
  • 1 c. boiling water

    Mix all the ingredients together.

    The last thing, add one cup of boiling water.

    Bake at 350° to 375° for about 30 minutes. Watch it because molasses burns easily.
