- 12 cup molasses
- 1 12 cups granulated sugar
- 1 12 tablespoons vinegar
- 12 cup water
- 14 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 18 teaspoon baking soda
Directions

1Place molasses, sugar, vinegar and water in a heavy saucepan and cook until a small amount tried in cold water is brittle (256F).

2Remove from heat and add butter, cream of tartar and baking soda.

3Pour into buttered pan.

4When cool enough to handle, pull until light in color.

5Butter the hands before pulling.

6Twist, cut into one-inch pieces.

7Wrap in wax paper.
