- 1 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening (Crisco)
- 3/4 c. milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 1 c. finely chopped nuts
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan. Place flour and next 3 ingredients in large bowl.

3Drop in shortening.

4Pour in milk, vanilla and 2 eggs.

5Beat 300 strokes. Add 2 eggs; beat 300 strokes.

6Beat until blended.

7Batter is heavy.

8Fold in nuts.

9Bake.

10Cool 10 to 15 minutes before removing from pan.
